WindPaddle FAQs

Q. What is WindPaddle made of?

A. WindPaddle cloth is 1/2 oz. rip-stop polyester, the same material that yacht racing spinnakers use. The flexible perimeter batten is made of a proprietary material that will not rust, corrode nor break unless seriously abused. The window is of lightweight clear vinyl. All of the seams are sail-taped and sewn using traditional triple-stitch zigzag sail seam construction. A triple-stitch zigzag results in a strong seam where the panels are sewn. The windowed sail is supported by a laminated and non-corroding high-modulus yet highly elastic and virtually unbreakable perimeter batten.

Q. Will WindPaddle fit my boat?

A. Yes WindPaddle can be fitted to any boat. Just clip the sail to any existing deck hardware or perimeter lines, even bungie cords ahead of the cockpit. Boats without any deck hardware or attachment points can be rigged by running a line around the cockpit coaming and tying two loops in it.

Q. Should I buy the WindPaddle Adventure or the WindPaddle Cruiser models?

A. The Windpaddle Adventure sail is intended for smaller solo kayaks. The WindPaddle Cruiser works well with tandems, canoes or for lighter wind conditions with solo boats. Of course thrill-seekers and speed freaks will always go for the WindPaddle Cruiser!

Q. How does the WindPaddle compare to other products on the market?

A. This product comparison chart clearly shows the benefits of the WindPaddle compared to other products on the market.
